Breast Cancer Support Groups in The Comox Valley
Breast cancer support groups are available to those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Some members of these support groups are newly diagnosed, others may be in treatment and many have been living with the effects of breast cancer for a long time.
A sense of isolation, fear and confusion often comes after a life-threatening diagnosis. Breast cancer support groups can help others face those challenges with up-to-date information, understanding, friendship and hope.
By sharing individual concerns and experience in a group setting, people can help and support each other in a safe, non-judgmental environment while respecting the confidentiality of all the support group members.
The Comox Valley Breast Cancer Support Groups meet at two different locations during the month. Facilitators of these groups are Canadian Cancer Society trained volunteers who have had a diagnosis of breast cancer. If you are a man or a woman who has had a diagnosis of breast cancer and wish to receive support, you are encouraged to contact one of the following facilitators:
Catherine Devries (250-339-6970) for meetings held at 10:00 am every second Tuesday
Shirley Brown (250-334-2140) for meetings held at 10:00 am on the first Saturday of a month
